Browns Hotels & Resorts launched its Sustainability Strategic Plan, BIGG CARE, on 18 August 2026 at The Eden, Beruwala, setting out the Group’s commitment to embedding sustainability and responsible business practices across its operations. BIGG CARE stands for Browns Hotels & Resorts Initiative for Green Governance, Climate Action, Accountability, Resource Efficiency & Engagement. The plan was officially launched and presented by Mr. Eksath Wijeratne, CEO of Browns Hotels & Resorts, alongside the Group’s new Bi-Annual Sustainability Newsletter. The programme featured an address by Ms. Harshini Halangode, Country Programme Manager, UN-Habitat Sri Lanka, and a keynote by Prof. Ajith De Alwis of the University of Moratuwa. A panel discussion on green governance, climate action, accountability, resource efficiency and engagement brought together Prof. Ajith De Alwis, Prof. Sevvandi Jayakody, Dr. Sharmen Vidanage and Dr. Leonie Vaas, moderated by Ms. Prashani Illangasinghe, Co-Founder of AlchemX Global, before an audience of senior management, sustainability professionals and industry stakeholders.
