At Club Hotel Dolphin, we are deeply committed to our community and the environment. Through our initiatives we recognize the importance of achieving a harmonious balance between environmental sustainability and community development. We have implemented various programs and initiatives to ensure that we play our part in caring for our community and preserving the environment for future generations.

Replanting the Future: First Nipa Palm Transplanting Event

On February 4th, 2025, Club Hotel Dolphin marked World Wetlands Day and Sri Lanka’s Independence Day by transplanting Nipa Palms (Nypa fruticans) along the Gin Oya riverbanks. Part of the Nipa Palm Conservation Project, launched in July 2024, this initiative, guided by experts, aims to combat erosion and restore ecosystems—reinforcing Browns Hotels & Resorts’ commitment to sustainability.

Nipa Palm Special Awareness Stamp

Club Hotel Dolphin, part of Browns Hotels & Resorts, launched a special awareness stamp with the Sri Lanka Postal Department on World Tourism Day, 27th September, to promote the Nipa Palm Conservation Project. Nipa Palm Nursery Initiation

On July 26 2024, Club Hotel Dolphin initiated a Nipa Palm nursery, planting 500 seeds that will later be used to restore the Gin Oya Riverbank. This five-year project, under the guidance of Wayamba University and the Wildlife and Nature Protection Society, included an awareness session led by Mr. Mahi Warunapriya from the Central Environmental Authority. World Oceans Day 2024 Celebration

In celebration of World Oceans Day 2024, Club Hotel Dolphin hosted an inspiring Ocean Wellness session led by our animation team. The event featured yoga with the soothing sounds of the sea, offering participants a chance to reconnect with mind, body, and soul. The highlight was a pledge to protect the ocean, symbolized by participants placing their fingerprints on a framed commitment.

World Environment Day 2024 Celebration

In honor of World Environment Day, Club Hotel Dolphin planted 25 additional King Coconut trees, increasing the total to 100 on our premises. This follows the successful planting of 50 trees earlier in 2024. The latest planting, completed on June 5, 2024, reaffirms our ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability.

Earth Day Celebration

Earth Day 2024 was celebrated by organizing an informative education session on "Planet vs Plastics" conducted by Ms. Priyani Nawarathne, Director of City Planning for the Northwestern Province, Sri Lanka Police Environmental Section. The Bolawaththa Church, Watura Resort, and Sooriya Resort and regional school children participated the program which concluded with an Aloe Vera planting program.

King Coconut Tree Planting Initiative

Club Hotel Dolphin launched an initiative to plant 100 King Coconut trees near the Quiet Pool on its 14-acre property, with each tree dedicated to a guest. This unique gesture allows our esteemed guests to revisit and witness the growth of "their" tree, creating a lasting, personal connection with nature that deepens with each visit.

Kumbuk tree planting

The Kumbuk tree planting CSR program that took place at Club Hotel Dolphin is a proactive initiative aimed at safeguarding the hotel's surrounding environment, particularly in minimizing river erosion. This program involves planting Kumbuk trees along the riverbanks, which are known for their extensive root systems that help stabilize soil and prevent erosion.

Reusing wastewater

One of the standout features of Club Hotel Dolphin's environmental sustainability initiatives is the implementation of a wastewater filtration system. This system allows the hotel to treat and reuse wastewater for various purposes, particularly in maintaining the hotel gardens.

Beach cleanup programs

We engage in regular beach cleanup programs, carried out in collaboration with the local village community. This joint effort not only keeps the hotel's beachfront pristine but also fosters a sense of community and shared responsibility for the environment. It serves as a testament to the hotel's commitment towards the environment.

Herbal garden and green house plant

The herbal garden and greenhouse at Club Hotel Dolphin showcase sustainable sourcing practices, transforming the hospitality industry's approach to self-sufficiency. By growing herbs and produce on-site, the resort reduces its carbon footprint associated with transportation and packaging. Additionally, it ensures the freshness and quality of ingredients used in culinary practices.
