World Fisheries Day 2024 Celebration

In celebration of World Fisheries Day 2024, The Calm Resort & Spa by Browns Hotels & Resorts hosted an awareness program for Pasikuda fishermen, focusing on fishing safety, marine conservation, and legal awareness. Experts from the Fisheries Department and Valaichchenai Harbor shared insights, while fishermen voiced challenges, fostering collaboration.

World Tourism Day 2024 Celebration

Calm Resort & Spa celebrated World Tourism Day 2024 by hosting an informative session for students of Valaichchenai Hindu College. The session highlighted the importance and history of tourism, along with this year's theme, "Tourism and Peace." Students also learned how the resort showcases local culture through its warm hospitality for guests.

Donation of Stationeries & Books to Sunday School Students – Sri Murugan Kovil, Pethalei

On October 27, 2024, Calm Resort & Spa donated stationery and books to 30 students at Sri Murugan Kovil’s Sunday school. With guidance from our welfare committee, items were tailored to each student’s grade level. Management and staff from the Calm Resort & Spa Welfare Society joined in this CSR initiative, aimed at building connections with the local community and supporting the Hindu community.

Alms Giving Program and Shramadana Campaign

Calm Resort & Spa hosted an Alms Giving Program and Shramadana Campaign at Kalkudah Pirivena. The event involved providing alms to the monks, cleaning the temple premises and providing the young monks with valuable stationaries to aid in their education, reflecting the resort's commitment to supporting local communities and promoting harmony through meaningful acts of service.

World Ocean Day 2024 Celebration

The Calm Resort & Spa celebrated this years "World Ocean Day" by conducting an Ocean Awareness Program and Craft Session for the A-Level Students of Valaichchenai Hindu College. This program was conducted in Collaboration with the Marine Environment Protection Authority, Batticaloa Regional Office. This program educated the children on the effects of ocean plastics and our part in conserving it.

Beach Cleanup 2024

This year as well the hotel staff came together to clean the beach in order to collect the trash left on the beach surrounding the hotel and coast line.

Beach Cleanup 2023

On the 04/12/2023 a beach cleanup program was held in order to collect trash along the coast line near to the hotel. The team managed to collect a significant amount of trash that would have eventually ended up harming the marine life.

Workshop

A workshop was held in order to educate the A-Level Students of Valaichchenai Hindu College on the "Importance of Tourism in Sri Lanka". This was to give them an insight on the current trends in the field.

Renovations

(ONGOING) Renovation of washrooms at Emergency Treatment Unit (ETU) at Valaichchenai Base Hospital (Frequency every 03 months).
