At Newburgh Ella, sustainability is woven into the rhythm of daily life.

Our Paperless Initiative stands at the heart of this commitment, dramatically reducing paper consumption across daily hotel operations, from guest registration and communications to internal documentation. This reflects a deliberate shift towards digital-first practices that significantly reduce our environmental footprint.

Alongside this, the Kombukara Wala Environmental Initiative supports the restoration of the resort’s surrounding natural environment through waste management and wildlife awareness efforts.

World Environment Day Tree planting program and awareness session

To commemorate World Environment Day, Newburgh Ella organized a tree-planting programme and a climate change awareness session for the students of Yahalawela Sinhala School. A total of 50 tree saplings were planted within the school premises as part of the initiative, contributing to environmental conservation and awareness among the younger generation.

Kombukara Wala Environmental Initiative

A sustainability initiative at Kombukara Wala focused on preserving the natural environment through a comprehensive plastic and polythene clean-up, followed by the introduction of a structured waste management system. The project also featured a wildlife awareness programme, encouraging responsible interaction with the surrounding ecosystem.
