Under water clean up for World Sea Turtle Day 2026
In commemoration of World Sea Turtle Day, Dickwella Resort & Spa conducted an underwater clean-up initiative at Nilwella Harbour area, in collaboration with Earthlanka Youth Network and RDL Corporate Responsibility, as a conservation action to address marine pollution and mitigate its impacts on sea turtle populations and their habitats.
Beach Clean-Up for World Oceans Day 2026
In celebration of World Ocean Day, the team at Dickwella Resort and Spa participated in a beach clean-up initiative along the shores of Dickwella. Demonstrating their commitment to environmental stewardship, team members collected litter a;ong the beach to help preserve the coastal ecosystem.
Environment Awareness Podcast with Haritha TV
At Dickwella Resort and Spa, an awareness podcast was conducted to be telecasted on Hritha TV with the participation of Dr. Samantha Gunasekara, Mr. Pradeep Nishantha and our GM, Mr. Sisira Senaratne. The discussions focused on environment literacy and conducting business in a sustainability manner.
World Turtle 2026 Day Awareness Programme
For World Turtle Day, Dickwella Resort conducted an awareness session on Sea Turtle Conservation for students from Batheegama Vidyalaya at the Sea Turtle conservation Hub. As part of the initiative, the hotel also donated two computers to the school to support and enhance its educational facilities.
Earth Day Beach Clean Up and Tree Planting
Earth Day 2026 at Dickwella Resort & Spa was lived with purpose. Our team came together for a beach cleanup and tree planting with the involvement of guests. The importance of conserving the shoreline was made aware as Dickwella’s shoreline is home to Sea Turtles.
Earth Hour 2026 Celebration
At Dickwella Resort & Spa, Earth Hour 2026 was observed through candlelight dining, cultural fire dance performances, and a low-carbon footprint awareness initiative where guests were invited to make conscious dining choices. The guests were asked to share their promise for the planet for a sustainable future as well.
Tree planting program for World Earth Day
In celebration of World Earth Day 2025, Dickwella Resort and Spa hosted a tree planting programme within the premises with the participation of staff and guests. The initiative aimed to promote environmental stewardship, enhance green spaces, and raise awareness of the importance of biodiversity conservation and sustainable practices.
Turtle Conservation Hub Launch
To mark World Turtle Day 2025, Dickwella Resort & Spa launched its new Sea Turtle Conservation Hub—a space for guests, students, and conservationists to learn and engage. Highlights included a wildlife awareness session, an art competition, and a baby turtle release. We're committed to growing this hub to protect sea turtles and our oceans.
"Clean Sri Lanka" National Program Contribution
With the introduction of the "Clean Sri Lanka" National Program by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on the 01 of January 2025, Dickwella Resort & Spa joined hands with the Marine Environment Protection Authority (MEPA) on the 02 of January 2025 to conduct a Coral and Beach Cleanup Program with the participation of hotel staff and guest along with the officials from MEPA.
Shramadana Initiative at Batheegama Hospital
Dickwella Resort & Spa organized a Shramadana campaign at Batheegama Hospital, focusing on renovating and painting the children's unit. This initiative aimed to create a brighter, more welcoming environment for young patients, reflecting the resort’s commitment to community support and well-being. Through teamwork and dedication, the project enhanced hospital facilities for children in need.
Renovation of the Special Needs children's classroom
At Dickwella Resort & Spa, our commitment to the community inspired us to renovate the special needs classroom at Batheegama Maha Vidyalaya. Witnessing its condition, we felt it was our duty to support these brilliant minds. Our team worked tirelessly, and the newly renovated classroom was opened on July 4th by our GM, Mr. Sisira Senaratne. We will continue to oversee and maintain the premises.
Coral rehabilitation program
The coral rehabilitation program at Dickwella Resort & Spa, in collaboration with Sampath Bank, enhances marine biodiversity by restoring damaged coral reefs. This initiative supports coastal ecosystems against climate change impacts like ocean acidification and rising sea temperatures. Through community engagement, it instills a sense of responsibility and interest towards marine environments.
